A long time ago I went to the library to choose an English book to read. And I saw the book “The Happy prince”. The book is a fairytale book, and it has a beautiful story. The book is based on a fiction story, about a swallow bird and a beautiful golden statue high up on a column in the city,(the happy prince). Everyone loves him, because he feels sad for the poor people in the city. The book is written by Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde he was born at 16 October in 1854 en died at 30 November in 1900. He was an Irish poet and playwright. Oscar de Wilde became one of London's most popular playwrights in the 1890s. He is also popular because he wrote the book the happy prince.

In a town where a lot of poor people live and where there are a lot of miseries. Is a swallow bird who is flying to Egypt for the winter. The swallow meets the statue of the Happy Prince, who in reality has never experienced true sorrow, for he lived in a palace where sorrow was not allowed to enter. The swallow bird was viewing poor people. The prince asks The swallow to take the ruby from his hilt, the sapphires from his eyes. And the golden leaf covering his body to give to the poor people. As the winter comes and the Happy Prince is stripped of all of his beautiful diamonds And sapphires. The prince was happy because The swallow give al The stuff Like gold And sapphires of The statue of The prince. The statue is then brought down from the pillar and melted in a furnace leaving behind the broken heart and the dead swallow. My opinion about this book, is that the book have a beautiful story. The book is good every age. And I will recommend this book for people that likes fairytale story’s. The story keeps the reader interested all the way through the story.
